Born in Peoria, Illinois, James Andrews was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1965. He completed Basic Training and Advanced Individual training at Fort Carson, Colorado, and was deployed to Vietnam in August 1966 with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. After a year “in country,” Mr. Andrews was honorably discharged from active duty in August 1967, though he remained in the Army reserves until 1971.

In November 1972, Mr. Andrews moved to Lexington as a claims manager for Crawford and Company. He continues to reside in Fayette County today.
