Born May 5, 1922, in Sadieville, Kentucky, R.D. “Bob” (Robert Davis) Bolson, a food salesman, served in the United States Army from October 1, 1942 – September 24, 1945, as a member of Company A of the 328th Engineers. He was wounded in action on April 19, 1945, and received a Purple Heart.  

After an honorable discharge, Bolson returned to Lexington and worked for the Lexington Signal Depot before spending more than 30 years working for IBM in Lexington. He served as Fayette County Commissioner, served as Chief of the Fayette County Auxiliary Police, served as Chief Deputy Coroner in Lexington, taught first-aid, and was a member of the Oleika Shriners Temple.

He is buried in the Lexington Cemetery.
