Nicole Horseman joined the United States Navy Seabees in 2006, eventually attaining the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. She served one tour in Iraq in 2009 as the Public Affairs Officer for Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Two-Four. She was honorably discharged in 2012.

She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2017 with a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Anthropology from the University of Kentucky, having served one term as President of UK’s Student Veterans of America.

Nicole is a Gold Legacy Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She joined Bluegrass Post 680 in Lexington and began her volunteerism as a Trustee. While Post Commander in 2019, she led Post 680 to achieve an All-State award, which hadn’t been accomplished at this Post in over a decade.

Nicole’s volunteerism hasn’t stopped at the local level. She has held the positions of VFW District 10’s Commander, Senior Vice Commander, Adjutant and Chaplain. She is currently the state-level Department Commander while remaining active at her local Post 680 as Post Commander and District Chief of Staff.
