A Lexington native, Sergeant Chelsey D. Johnson served as a C-130J Loadmaster in the U.S. Air Force. She flew over 800 hours in combat and humanitarian missions, including delivering emergency relief to Trinidad and providing medical and casualty evacuation coverage across east and west Africa.
Johnson was the Air Force Ambassador for Air Mobility Command’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, dedicating 120 hours to advancing initiatives for 110,000 total force personnel and led the All-Air Force Women’s Basketball Team.
Johnson retired from the Air Force in 2024 and is currently a graduate student in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky.
